Equipment

  • 9-by-13-inch baking dish
  • Serrated bread knife
  • Pastry brush
  • Aluminum foil

Ingredients

  • 1 pack Hawaiian sweet rolls 12-count
  • 1/2 cup chunky pizza sauce rich red sauce
  • 6 oz sliced pepperoni reddish-pink rounds
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella low-moisture for best stretch
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese creates white flecks

Instructions

  • Heat the oven to 350°F, lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish, and slice the connected roll slab horizontally.
  • Set the bottom roll slab in the dish and spread the pizza sauce evenly over it, leaving a narrow border.
  • Add half the mozzarella, arrange the pepperoni in overlapping rows, and cover with the remaining mozzarella.
  • Replace the top roll slab and press lightly so the layers sit evenly without forcing out the sauce.
  • Mix the melted butter with garlic powder and oregano, brush it over the tops, and sprinkle with parmesan.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes, then uncover and bake 5 to 8 minutes until golden and melted.
  • Rest the sliders for 5 minutes, cut along the roll seams, and serve warm with extra pizza sauce if desired.

Notes

Storage: Refrigerate cooled sliders in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze individually wrapped baked sliders for up to 2 months.
Reheating: Cover loosely with foil and warm at 325°F for 10 to 15 minutes, or air fry at 320°F for 3 to 5 minutes.
Best Tips: Use thick sauce, low-moisture mozzarella, and a connected roll slab to keep the layers neat and the bottom from turning soggy.
Variations: Try turkey pepperoni, cooked Italian sausage, provolone, or pre-cooked bell peppers and mushrooms.
Make Ahead: Assemble without the butter topping, refrigerate for up to 6 hours, then brush and bake just before serving.
